The two most common types of resume are chronological and functional. A chronological resume lists your work experience, education, publications and any other dated information from newest to earliest. A functional resume emphasizes the skills you bring to the open position from most relevant to least relevant. Some experts recommend using a functional resume to hide a staggered or unrelated work history, but most interviewers can see through this. When in doubt, make your resume chronological.
