Lincoln is the hub of a large grain and livestock area. Noted for its railroad and trade, the city is home to meat processing, construction materials, automotive parts, motorcycles and printing and publishing. There are numerous insurance companies based in Lincoln, yet the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the State of Nebraska remain the major base in the economy. The area outside of Lincoln's city limits remains fairly undeveloped and has no major suburbs.
