Jackson is the largest city in Mississippi. Because of its geographic location, Jackson is an important distribution and rail center. The city manufacturers lumber, machinery, paper, metal, glass, concrete and other consumer goods. Jackson has always been noted for its ability to distribute merchandise. The city was the first known trading post near Natchez Trace. History also remembers Jackson for being the first city to give a married woman property rights back in 1839.
