Hartford is an insurance town. Companies such as The Hartford and AETNA have done much to solidify Hartford's reputation as an international insurance center. Hartford's Downtown district is where business takes place in the city. St. Paul Travelers, The Hartford Financial Services, Incorporated, Phoenix Insurance, Hartford City Hall, Wadsworth Atheneum, The Travelers Tower and more can be found in the historic downtown area. Hartford is currently undergoing a redevelopment project which will bring more diverse industries to the area. Colt Firearms and United Technologies are two "non-insurance" businesses that are based in Hartford. The city predicts more diverse companies will soon follow their lead and relocate to Hartford.
