The various government departments oversee the country, states and local regions they represent. The public agencies involved in the federal, state and local governments make polices, create and enforce laws, provides defense of its citizens, and oversee programs designed to benefit the majority. As the government is a necessary part of our society, employment will increase as programs increase. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment in the federal government is supposed to increase 1.6% through 2014, while state and local governments will increase as much as 11.3% over the same period.
