Detroit is known for its automotive industry. Besides automobile making, other notable products that are produced in Detroit include rolled steel, metal stamping, automation systems, welding systems, pharmaceuticals, paint, salt, and tire/rubber products. While manufacturing remains a large percentage of Detroit's economy, the service industry accounts for the other half of Detroit's employment. Up to 48 percent of the jobs in Detroit are in health care, engineering and business services. The city has no public transit as most Detroit residents prefer car travel.
