However, the transportation and manufacturing sectors are making their mark on Columbus. The city has three railroads and nearly 140 trucking companies. The city is a major transporter for UPS and Federal Express and moves thousands of tons of cargo each year. Manufacturing is strong in the city with car and motorcycle plants in the area, as well as textiles, processed food, aircraft and electronic plants springing up.
