Although some of this discrepancy is because many women choose to stay out of the formal workplace to raise their children, there are still instances where it is genuinely more difficult for women to move up. If you're a woman looking to advance your career, ask yourself if you can be more assertive. Being considered for top positions requires that you get comfortable with self-promotion. Take a few risks and make sure you let people know about your accomplishments.
