Entertainment is probably one of the hardest industries to find steady employment even after extensive education. The industry includes live entertainment such as dance, drama, theatre, opera, magic shows, sports, concerts, and comedy. It also includes the music and publishing industries, as well as exhibitions in museums. The employment outlook for this industry is always competitive because there is much more available talent than there is steady work. It can take years to land a good theatre or movie role, or have a book published and see profit. It is more important to start small, build a portfolio. As a self-employed entertainer, small jobs will become important to lead up to bigger, better paying gigs.
