As a carpenter, one works as a craftsman that constructs/repairs a variety of things. A college degree is not required of a carpenter, although basic reading, math and problem-solving skills are. A carpenter must also have manual dexterity in order to handle tools for construction. Carpentry is a trade that one usually apprentices in and is a profession that is almost always in big demand. Construction companies, schools, hospitals and government agencies are often looking for carpenters.
