Don't rely on spell-checkers to correct the spelling on your resume and cover letter. If you've mistakenly typed a wrong word, the spell-checker won't catch it. A spell-checker may even replace a misspelled word with a word that you didn't intend. When you proofread your resume and cover letter, pay special attention to commonly confused words such as "it's" and "its." If possible, get feedback from someone who you know is good with language or who has experience with the hiring process.
