Company Overview ConocoPhillips is an international, integrated energy company with operations in nearly 40 countries.  As the third-largest integrated energy company in the United States and fifth-largest refiner in the world, ConocoPhillips’ goal is to deliver energy in a safe, environmentally and socially responsible manner.  Approximately 32,600 ConocoPhillips employees work worldwide to consistently deliver top performance and value to maintain the company's global market position.  Employees' individual talents and strengths combine to create a diverse and energized workforce within ConocoPhillips.  Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company had $178 billion of assets as of December 31, 2007. ConocoPhillips Alaska Inc., with about 1,000 Alaska employees, has major ownership in the Prudhoe Bay Unit, the Kuparuk River Unit, and the Colville River Unit (WNS - Alpine).  ConocoPhillips operates the Greater Kuparuk Area and WNS Alpine field and satellites, as well as the Kenai Liquified Natural Gas Plant, North Cook Inlet platform and Beluga River Unit gas field.  The company owns 28% of the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS).  We are Alaska's largest oil and gas producer and have more than 50 years of business history in Alaska.  The Company is also the largest holder of federal and state leases in Alaska. Description Western North Slope production engineering is ramping up activity with a continuous drilling program, a winter frac program and a planned summer concentric coil program.  To meet this increased workload the WNS base team is looking to add an experienced Production Engineer to the team to help plan and implement this work program.  This is a great opportunity to work on high impact activities, gain operational experience on some of the newest developments on the North Slope and work within a high functioning team of PE’s  During the winter ice road season (January through April) when activity is highest this position will be a slope based rotating position (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off).  During the remainder of the year the position will be Anchorage office based. Responsibilities The WNS production engineer will be accountable for a wide variety of challenges associated with operational activities in WNS.  The position will be responsible for gas lift and flowing well optimization work and injection well management on Alpine and Satellite fields Fiord, Nanuq and Qannik.  The role will work closely with operations to implement the frac program and provide support to the ongoing drilling program.  Other responsibilities include:   production assurance, well performance analysis, well test QC and well allocations, stimulation procedures, completion procedures as well as design and support for exploration well testing activities.  Site supervision of the above as required.  Interaction with government agencies and other stakeholders may be required on an ad hoc basis. Background on AssetWestern North Slope is made up of the Alpine and satellites fields.  Alpine was developed in 2000, Nanuq & Fiord, the first two satellites to be developed came online in 2006.  The field is located in the environmentally sensitive Colville River delta, consequently COP have worked hard to minimize our footprint in the area.  This has lead to some unique technical challenges and solutions: the field has no permanent road access and relies on a winter ice road network for supply restock, the facility is a near zero discharge facility to reduce environmental impact and employs a 4500ft underground river crossing, which was the first of it’s kind on the slope.  The Alpine field, and its satellites have been developed exclusively with long horizontal wells.  WNS currently hold the North Slope record for the longest horizontal well at 25,040 ft drilled in 2007.  The reservoirs use miscible gas WAG (Water-Alternating-Gas) floods to increase recovery.  There is an active drilling and well intervention program to maximize production and continue to develop further satellite developments.  We have an active industry leading frac program as we seek to place multiple fracs along long open hole horiztonal wells.  Qannik, which overlies the Alpine field will be developed in this year, following that there are several more potential developments that are planned for development in the next few years.  All of the above requires a lot of hard work from a high caliber multi disciplinary team.  We can promise a challenging work environment, excellent mentoring, great development opportunities and extremely good fishing, hiking and skiing!  Basic/Required Qualifications Authorized to work in the United States on a regular, full-time basis. Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Petroleum, Chemical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering. 5 years direct experience in production, surveillance and/or reservoir engineering.  Proficient with all MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).  Preferred QualificationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to gather appropriate information and make decisions Ability to prioritize work in a high activity environment Experience with well surveillance and production decline analysis to identify wellwork candidates Experience with well and facilities production optimization through gas/water limited facilities Knowledge of reservoir processes / fluid movement Prior experience with a frac program Well intervention experience (rig workovers, coiled tubing squeezes, stimulations) Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, helping and being helped as needed
