TITLE: Wire Assembler
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Instrumentation Engineering is seeking well qualified candidates to join our Wiring Department in Oakland, NJ. As a wire assembler you will be involved in performing a variety of wiring and test sets and/or demos using electrical, RF and/or fiber optic cable. You will also perform electro-mechanical assembly as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Prepares work to be accomplished by studying work orders, specifications, instructions, diagrams, and wire lists.Reads wiring diagrams and schematics to understand size/type of cable connectors to be used.Assembles harness by selecting and cutting wires, looping wires between guide pegs, following color-coded lines or sequential numbers, wrapping or tying wires.Attaches cable to components or plugs by soldering or crimping wires and connectors.Routes electrical cables and wires up power supplies per wiring diagram.Performs soldering in accordance with assembly instructions.Completes wiring harnesses by placing and typing wires and protecting cables.Notifies supervisor if unusual difficulties occur and to obtain additional resources.Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, policies, and regulations.Works as part of a team.Maintains excellent attendance to ensure position responsibilities are met.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school or equivalent education. 1+ years experience in electronics assembly, preferably in wiring, including the ability to solder. Must be able to read schematic diagrams and operate from written instructions. Must have certification for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies, IPC-J-STD-001D. US citizenship required.
