West Elm, the distinctly modern, design driven and trend setting home furnishings brand is opening a new store in this spring at Metropolitan at Midtown in Charlotte, NC. As a part of the family of brands owned and operated by Williams-Sonoma, Inc.,we are currently seeking general manager candidates for this position.

Develop and motivate staff to provide the highest level of customer service and maximize sales. Effectively supervise store operations, maintain appropriate inventory levels, and promote and maintain a positive work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Exemplify the highest level of customer service standards and develop effective selling techniques, monitor sales, coach, motivate, develop and challenge the staff towards increasing productivity while providing excellent customer service.
* Responsible for different aspects of recruiting top talent to join our organization and assist in the orientation and development with all new members of the store from store operations to product knowledge.
* The duties include but are not limited to: maintaining visual standards, maximizing sales potential, manage operations functions (i.e. payroll, scheduling, expenses - supplies, audits).
* Responsible for loss prevention and inventory management - processing shipment, visual initiatives and replenishment.
* Responsible for communicating all company initiatives that will impact the business and the store team.
* Develop staff by providing feedback through training, coaching and counseling, and planning/implementing effective developmental plans.
* Appraise associate performance, write and deliver performance appraisals, and recommend promotions, increases or other changes to status.
* Conduct weekly management meetings to review sales and contest trends, expenses, inventory levels, store operating procedures, and staff development. Establish weekly goals and review progress.
* Evaluate business, forecast sales, and plan payroll expenditure based on current trends. Develop staffing plans and schedules in order to achieve budget sales and payroll plan.
* Ensure biannual inventory is planned and executed accurately.


QUALIFICATIONS:

* 5-7 years management experience (specialty retail single or multi-unit capacity preferred) volumes ranging from $3 - $6 million.
* Must have the proven ability to recruit, train and develop quality people. To create a service focused team to generate sales and exceed customer expectations.
* Must be able to work a varied schedule to include nights and weekends i.e. a minimum of: three closings, three Saturdays and one Sunday per month), biannual inventories and the entire holiday season (November - December).
* Must be able to lift and carry medium to large items weighing up to 75 pounds, utilizing appropriate equipment.
* Must be able to maintain compliance with company dress codes and policies.
* Good planning and time management skills to execute multiple tasks simultaneously
