Description: Partners HealthCare offers paid, 12-week summer internships in a variety of Information Systems departments. At Partners, the Enterprise Research Information Systems (ERIS) is a department of PHS Research Computing. ERIS is responsible for infrastructure, systems, and services that support research at Partners and its affiliated institutions of Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Womens Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. ERIS supports up to 5,000 Harvard Faculty members and Partners Investigators performing medical, genomic, basic, and clinical research.

The department enables research through efficient and productive use of the growing resources of Partners Healthcare. Members of the department interact daily with investigators throughout the organization to fulfill informatics and IS/IT needs.

We presently have a web-technologies developer internship position available. The opportunity includes redesign and rewrite of present content, incorporation of new content, and new feature development as time permits. Additionally in the High Performance Computing group, new feature development includes the construction of web pages for the presentation of application-derived data. The applications are built in-house by personnel, with the data contained in relational databases. Web page construction for the display of this data needs to be designed and populated.

Additionally, due to our strong team and collaborative development and support focus, the intern will be able to pursue other interests in a wide area. Due to the breadth of opportunities within the group including bio-informatics, cutting edge research IT support, RDBMS, exposure to leading scientists, and state-of-the-art data centers and systems. Qualifications: - Graduate student in computer science, bioinformatics, genetics/biology with IT background preferred.
- A keen interest in scientific computing, medical and basic research and informatics is required.
- Web design and development experience, including CSS development, scripting, developing a web structure, interacting with databases and files for visualization onto web pages.
- Work with open-source systems and servers such as Apache, Tomcat, Jboss, linux preferred.
