Web Specialist
Job Description
The Web Specialist provides critical day-to-day support of content management system (CMS) implementations, serving as the primary authority in connecting a client’s business goals with the CMS’ capabilities. The Web Specialist commands a deep understanding of a project’s functional requirements (how things need to work), and engages the development team to assure that these requirements are maintained, assuring that the client can achieve the necessary goal with the CMS.
The Web Specialist will work directly with client account management and the project development teams. Account management interaction will focus on gaining an understanding of business requirements for each web project. As the CMS is appropriately configured and content is entered, the Web Specialist will author a set of functional specifications used to focus development team efforts throughout the project. As implementation takes place, the Web Specialist will use the knowledge of business goals along with an understanding of the CMS to create quality assurance test scenarios and corresponding test cases. Testing will be used to ensure that all content delivered and entered into the CMS is displaying correctly and working to achieve the client’s goals. The web specialist will also participate in project meetings on behalf of client interests, to ensure that the solution meets the overall client requirements.
Responsibilities
Configure commercial CMS tool for administration
Enter/Modify content within commercial CMS tool
Translate business requirements into functional specifications
Create Quality Assurance Test Scenarios and corresponding Test Cases
Conduct Quality Assurance activities to ensure web page content is displaying correctly and working appropriately
Required
Understand the principals of web page layouts and best web practices
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as a member of the functional teams
Work with all teams to define client needs and ensure client requirements are being met
Familiarity and competence with Microsoft Office, including Visio
Willingness to exceed client expectations at every level of service
Desired
Familiarity with Photoshop and Fireworks
Understanding of Media Optimization Principles
Knowledge of web-based Social Networking tools and sites
