XHTML/CSS DEVELOPER Ideal experience: Front end developer and designer. Would prefer to find someone that could take the project from strategy, come up with prototypes, code the front-end, and hand it off to IT for back-end integration. Front end programmer and designer someone who understands the strategy, how to best represent the interface, goals for application, and development of prototypes. Translate a mock up (finished design Visio, wire frame, Photoshop prototype into final front end code if they do not have the design background. User experience designer from Information Architect, Content, and Usability perspective. Must have: XHTML, and CSS. Really want a Standard compliant designer (standard compliant W3C validation). JavaScript (nice to have). 508 experience a plus. Yahoo A grade browsers (designs should fit) a plus. Content graceful degradation to lower end browsers. More background on the group: The Web Strategy and Operations group worked with various business units and our IT partners to launch a new, user-centric web site for our organization last October. The site is designed to serve our 160,000 members worldwide and provide them with access to critical information and applications. It is built around a Stellent content management system and delivered by BEA web portal. Our team comprises several groups, including program management, marketing and communications, operations, and user experience. With user experience, we have staff skilled in information architecture, content strategy, visual and interactive design, and user testing and usability research. The position we want to fill will assist with the visual and interactive design specialty. We are working this year on three critical projects: an online member network, replacement of our member database, and single sign on which is directly connected to the authentication and access systems for our site. The position will work on projects within these efforts, as well as ongoing project work requested by the business units and by the user experience team The Web Presence Division is responsible for redefining the focus and operations to take full advantage of the Internet to service constituents and to promote the core values of knowledge sharing, advocacy and community. The unit is responsible for ensuring that the Web Presence provides "constituent-friendly" access to products, services and information in a way that reinforces and extends leadership as a trusted source of scientific knowledge and opinion. This responsibility includes working with other divisions and departments, with Society Components, and with Governance to expand their horizons and understanding of Internet-related opportunities. The unit provides leadership that enables the company to take full advantage of the web to achieve its goals in an orchestrated manner and advance the realization of the overall mission, strategic vision and tactical objectives.
