Overview:

Responsible for all advertising revenue in the assigned geography, managing a direct sales force of eight seasoned territory representatives.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Drive and grow United Online’s advertising revenue in the assigned geography.

2. Oversee and lead the direct sales channel of United Online including Classmates.com.

3. Develop selling strategies and determine cross-sell opportunities and ways to leverage the brand across all properties.  In addition, determine short and long-range sales revenue plans, annual revenue budgets, and tactical action plans that will generate maximum advertiser revenues for the Company.  Work with the VP Sales and other senior executives to identify and syndicate these plans.

4. Drive the sales management process as well as play a hands-on role in driving sales, generating leads and opening doors for the sales organization.

5. Drive large, multi-year business relationships with potential Fortune 500 type clients.  Build upon prior success in this area to continue to grow this opportunity.

6. Expand and retain existing advertiser accounts and affiliate relationships.  Development good relationships with key accounts, key client executives, and agency partners online.

7. Create and implement sales programs and tools that increase performance by the sales staff.  Reevaluate and determine performance levels across each channel.

8. Provide a strong mentoring/coaching leadership to the direct reports, as well as the sales representatives in each region, elevating skill sets and developing bench strength in the organization.

 

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree required, MBA considered ideal.

2. Minimum of eight years sales and sales management experience in a position of increasing responsibility with at least five years of online advertising sales experience in the internet media, portal, search, online advertising, or ISP industries.

3. Experience managing a national sales team of at least 6, with the proven ability to create organizational structures, attract and retain talent, and to make, as necessary, critical staff decisions.  Ideally, the candidate will have managed at least two different channels previously.

4. Proven track record of closing large, complex deals directly with senior client executives.

5. Exceptional management experience in developing and executing sales strategies, tactics, plans, processes, systems and programs. 

6. Proven ability to respond effectively to market direction, customer needs and major competitors’ positions.
