We are currently looking for a qualified VP - Product Management to join our Service Management team at our office in South San Francisco, CA. Consideration will also be given to having the position based out of corporate headquarters in Islandia, NY.

The Service Management business is one of the largest and fast growing businesses for CA. This position will have broad and senior visibility within CA. The VP is expected to play a highly influential role in CA's overall strategy and direction.

This position is responsible for leading the overall product management activities for a large portfolio of products for the Service Management Business Unit and managing and coordinating the efforts of a number of product management directors and managers for the Business Unit (BU). This position has accountability for the overall product strategy and management effort and helps to develop the processes that comprise Product Management. This main spokesperson for the BU is a hands-on leader that can manage other product managers from a process and content perspective.

Build a team that provides the following functions for a product line or BU:

* Research and develop the requirements to win in the marketplace for a brand
* Define a winning strategy for the Service Management software market and assigns products given market trends and core capabilities
* Work closely with Product Development to define requirements and product specifications
* Determine the most effective pricing and packaging for the products
* Work with development to define the road map for the products in the brand, addresses business and technical superiority in the market
* Provide constructive input on marketing plans to product marketing and corporate marketing
* Provides launch support at the time the product throughout the launch cycle
* Develop build vs. buy analysis to fill identified gaps in the product lines
* Assist sales and sales support in RFP responses and proposal preparation
* Manage relationships with industry analysts, press, R&D, Product Marketing, Partners, Sales, Corporate and Regional Marketing, and customers
* Gather requirements for the product to introduce in future releases
* Research and anticipate customer needs in current and potential market segments
* Support the content generation for training of the field, channel, and end customers

Role Definition: Strategic/Business/Operational Leadership

* Leads product management across the entire product portfolio for the Service Management BU and reports to the SVP and General Manager of the BU
* Expected to operate autonomously within area of responsibility and fully accountable for meeting strategic financial and operating objectives of the Business Unit
* Broad knowledge of all aspects within the Business Unit based on in-depth knowledge experience in middle-management roles
* Influences and sets direction for high profile products, processes, services and specific initiatives
* Helps establish vision and goals for the Business Unit that aligns with overall Company strategy and initiatives
* Mobilizes high level technical resources to execute plans around new initiatives/products
* Helps deliver strategic and financial results by growing the business and meeting customer needs - may be involved in planning strategic alliances, acquisitions, capital investments or new product launches
* Resolves highly complex problems that require resolution at a senior management level and which often have little or no organizational precedent
* Overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods
* Adapts goals based on changes in company strategy
* Analyzes and challenges current working methods to create improvements in processes and results
* Initiates project related work that impacts functional operations
* Determines the necessary infrastructure to support business needs within the function or sub-functions
* Helps grow future leaders by giving them accountability and opportunities for growth
* Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for the function or multiple sub-functions

Minimum Requirements:

* Typically 12 or more years of experience in the software industry (7 or more years in a management capacity)
* Strong technical background in product management and prior experience managing 3 or more direct reports and a total staff of 15 or more (Management experience should be global in geographic focus)
* Prior experience managing and influencing a large multimillion dollar budget
* Recognized in the industry as a subject matter expert, a visionary
* Has been involved in product management cycle from start to finish for successful products
* Exposure to business side of the industry, familiar with pricing models, sales force structure and marketing process
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
* In depth understanding of technology in the products he/she has responsibility for
* Ability to translate technology feature/function into effective positioning and value materials for external communication
* Business travel of approximately 50% yearly is expected for this position
* Knowledge of the Service Management market highly desirable
* Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in Computer Science or related field, MBA highly desirable
