The Vice President of Product Management is responsible for leading the product vision and roadmap at eEye.
While the ideal candidate must be able to lead the strategic marketing activities, this is a hands-on role that will also be handling some of the execution of these plans. Experience in the security software industry or business software industry highly desired.
Principal Responsibilities
Product Roadmap & Vision
· Develop and get consensus on the strategic product vision for each of our existing and potentially new products
· Communicate product management requirements to the research and development teams
· Research and anticipate customer needs in current and potential market segments
· Gather requirements for the product to introduce in future releases
· Leverage surveys and focus groups of existing and potential customers to understand customer needs and obtain feedback on our current products
· Develop a business plan for the proposed product, with clear definition of the assumptions in the business model
Analyst Relations
· Management department and budgets
· Market and competitive analysis: Conduct regular, detailed analysis of the market opportunity including: Market opportunity analysis; Market landscape analysis; Market competitive analysis; Potential business opportunity analysis; development/partnership opportunity analysis
Product Launch Planning
· Formalize and manage the product development process from start to finish, including idea generation, concept development and approval, and launch execution
· Own product messaging and sales tools and collateral, including the corporate presentation, web site content, product brochures, data sheets, etc
· Product demos own production of demo scripts, demo data, vertical demos, and rollout to the field
· Sales training strategy, sales enablement, marketing led sessions, and session delivery
· Technical sales tools own production of technical marketing tools such as whitepapers, RFP templates, evaluation scorecards, ROI calculators
Competitive Intelligence
· Understand the competition and barriers to market
· Research and develop the requirements to win in the marketplace for a brand
· Define a winning strategy for the Service Management software market and assigns products given market trends and core capabilities
· Work closely with Product Development to define requirements and product specifications
· Determine the most effective pricing and packaging for the products
· Work with development to define the road map for the products in the brand, addresses business and technical superiority in the market
· Provide constructive input on marketing plans to product marketing and corporate marketing
· Provides launch support at the time the product throughout the launch cycle
· Develop build vs. buy analysis to fill identified gaps in the product lines
· Assist sales and sales support in RFP responses and proposal preparation
· Manage relationships with industry analysts, press, R&D, Product Marketing, Partners, Sales, Corporate and Regional Marketing, and customers
· Support the content generation for training of the field, channel, and end customers
· Role Definition: Strategic/Business/Operational Leadership
· Leads product management across the entire product portfolio for the Service Management BU and reports to the SVP and General Manager of the BU
· Expected to operate autonomously within area of responsibility and fully accountable for meeting strategic financial and operating objectives of the Business Unit
· Broad knowledge of all aspects within the Business Unit based on in-depth knowledge experience in middle-management roles
· Influences and sets direction for high profile products, processes, services and specific initiatives
· Helps establish vision and goals for the Business Unit that aligns with overall Company strategy and initiatives
· Mobilizes high level technical resources to execute plans around new initiatives/products
· Helps deliver strategic and financial results by growing the business and meeting customer needs - may be involved in planning strategic alliances, acquisitions, capital investments or new product launches
· Resolves highly complex problems that require resolution at a senior management level and which often have little or no organizational precedent
· Overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods
· Adapts goals based on changes in company strategy
· Analyzes and challenges current working methods to create improvements in processes and results
· Initiates project related work that impacts functional operations
· Determines the necessary infrastructure to support business needs within the function or sub-functions
· Helps grow future leaders by giving them accountability and opportunities for growth
· Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for the function or multiple sub-functions
Qualifications
Required
· 15 or more years of experience in the software industry, with experience in the security software industry
· Extensive experience working with sales, marketing, and operations to successfully launch new releases and products
· Currently a Director or higher in a Product Management role
· Prior experience leading the product management life cycle from start to finish for successful products
· Core passion and ability for building the long term product vision and roadmap while also managing the current sprints and product releases that address both short term priorities progressing on the roadmap
· Agile Development knowledge
· Experience in competitive intelligence and product pricing
· Ability to translate technology features into effective positioning for external communications
· Excellent written and oral communicator
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, with a MBA desirable
· Willingness to travel approx. 25-50% of the time
· Experience in outsourced development management
· Experience working in small teams and prioritizing workloads in dynamic environments
