The VP/Portfolio Manager (PM) reports to the Director in charge of Portfolio Management for LBO facilities – as part of the BNP Paribas Financial Sponsor Credit Management team. The primary responsibility of the position is to provide deal support to the portfolio management function and secondarily to the origination function. The person will have direct contact with portfolio companies and financial sponsor clients (primarily equity funds) as well as with intermediaries and other transaction resources.Proactive management of any agented credit or participation, from closing until termination. The PM will be the primary contact person with: (i) the borrower, handling issues as they develop and maintaining an active calling schedule with customers; and (ii) the Risk Management Department , obtaining necessary credit approvals, and monitoring and communicating account information on a regular and as needed basis. Participation in due diligence of targeted companies including the AML/KYC/CARD process. Preparation of credit and investment memoranda in support of new transactions in which the Bank would act as a participant. Negotiation and execution of legal documentation after the original transaction. Assistance in Syndication of Senior credits. Evaluate borrowers’ compliance of all legal documentation, financial covenants, requirement and credits on a post closing basis. Prepare semi-annual valuations of the Bank’s equity co-investments in the portfolio companies. The successful candidate should posses a minimum of 3-5 years experience in leveraged finance and equity investing with a major investment bank, finance company or merchant banking operation. Qualified candidates need to demonstrate strong financial and credit analysis skills combined with transactional execution experience. The candidate should be a self starter, capable of functioning in a fast paced environment. Preferred academic requirements include a MBA from a top-tier university. Candidates with a BA or BS in accounting, economics or finance will be considered. A CPA or CFA is a plus. Computer proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required as well as the ability to conduct financial research using the internet and web based databases such as Investext, Lexus Nexus and Dow Jones among others.
