This is an excellent strategic leadership opportunity to promote the success of drug development projects for current and future sponsor clients for one of the finest Contract Research Organizations in the world.

 

DESCRIPTION

As the Vice President, Strategic Biostatistics, you will provide coordination world-wide for the Strategic Biostatistics Unit, and manage this function for a large region or on a worldwide basis. You will ensure that maximal use is made of the Strategic Biostatistics expertise to win new full scope high value business. You will provide strategic biostatistical and general drug development input for high priority sales opportunities to help increase revenue for product development. You will place emphasis on methods to cut costs, decrease time, or increase chance of success for drugs under development by biotech clients and certain mid-size pharmaceutical companies as well as for the preservation of existing business.  Additionally, you will represent clients at meetings with FDA, European regulatory authorities, or Advisory Committees and where applicable you will attend Global Bios meetings and global bios world-wide calls.

 

As the Vice President, Strategic Biostatistics you will promote and oversee all strategic biostatistical marketing which will include publishing papers that demonstrate strategic bios expertise in key areas, giving presentations at conferences, coordinating support whenever possible in the wider marketing of the company as a whole and publicizing your groups work internally to key groups. You will coordinate biostatistics support on all matters related to Due Diligence or Alliance Management. For example, you will provide input to the Due Diligence assessment of compounds in which a large investment is being considered. You will initiate and carryout developments in areas of statistical design or analysis that can be used to give a greater edge over competitors. You may serve as the Global Biostatistical Advisor on developments in biostatistics, clinical trial methodology, and regulatory requirements that impact design or analyses for multiple therapeutic areas.

 

In this role you will also provide training to others in the group to enable them to give strategic biostatistical input to sponsors and potential sponsors as well as provide training for partner companies. You will ensure that training in advanced statistical topics or advanced case studies as well as high level statistical consultancy is provided for all biostatics staff. Your management of staff will include mentoring, guiding professional development, and appraising performance. You will be responsible for rewarding employees, approving action on human resource matters, addressing employee relations issues and resolving any problems.

 

REQUIREMENTS

As the ideal candidate for Vice President, Strategic Biostatistics you will hold a  PhD or educational equivalent in biostatistics or related field complimented by 12 years relevant experience including 10 years of senior management experience. You must have extensive knowledge of complex statistical analysis methods as well as in-depth knowledge of cutting-edge design approaches that can beneficially be applied to Phase II-IIIB clinical trials. You will have demonstrated ability to develop new methods to cut costs, decrease time, or increase chance of success for drugs under development.

 

As the ideal candidate you will have a strong knowledge of current FDA and EMEA regulatory requirements, a comprehensive understanding of the clinical drug development process and expert knowledge of SAS.  You will be able to operate simultaneously across numerous projects, for many of which the ability to operate in a SWAT type mode is required. Your excellent written and oral communication skills will be complimented by strong negotiating savvy and a cohesive nature that brings about an effective working relationship with coworkers, managers and clients.  Additional requirements include the ability to communicate effectively via telephone with an accurate perception of speech, sit for extended periods of time and be willing to extensively and repetitively use the keyboard.

Occasional travel is associated with this position.

 

LOCATION

This is an office based position and can be located in either San Diego, CA or Research Triangle Park, NC. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
