Education Management Corporation (EDMC) is seeking a Vice President of Operations for its high growth Online Higher Education (OHE) division. OHE supports students in providing online education and support services for three of EDMC’s educational institutions (Art Institute of Pittsburgh, South University, Argosy University). The Vice President of Operations is a key senior leadership position reporting to the President of EDMC OHE and is responsible with the rest of the executive team to achieve the division’s academic, financial and operating goals.

Position Requirements:
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for all aspects of student support services, financial aid, academic operations, and process improvements. This position will lead and direct the academic and financial support areas to achieve business goals. This person will lead student support groups including a call center and processing center. As a member of the executive committee, this person will work closely with other functional leaders to drive qualitative and quantitative business goals. He/she will also be responsible for achieving student recruitment and retention targets and maintaining academic and financial compliance.

This individual will manage the successful deployment and operation of key technical solutions to drive student satisfaction and scale. This position will be responsible for working closely with the internal IT organization including QA, desktop support, internal application development and business/technology analysts.

This position is responsible for driving change and scale in a high growth environment. He/she will also be responsible for hiring, identifying and developing emerging leaders.

This position is part of the EDMC OHE senior management team and will develop the strategic, tactical and budget plans to support operations. This position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

KEY JOB ELEMENTS:

1. Responsible for the strategy and successful management of the following support functions:
a. Student support call center (Tier 1)
b. Web support through student support
c. Transaction processing including enrollment processing, financial aid processing, document processing and academic operations
d. Student support Tier 2 including financial aid, transcript coordination/fulfillment, and new student advising
e. The above areas of responsibility include the direct and indirect management of a large and growing group of EDMC OHE’s employees
2. Lead facilities management for all locations
3. Report key performance indicators around internal productivity and efficiency in addition to student satisfaction.
4. Create and maintain a solid client interface with open lines of communication. Monitor customer service levels through appropriate tools.
5. Identify and implement process improvements to drive scale.
6. Manage technology roadmap including solution identification and deployment with corporate services.
7. Develop strategic, tactical, and budget plans for operations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Passion for education and changing lives
2. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a business related field; MBA preferred
3. Minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience in building, growing and developing a management team
4. Minimum of 2 years experience in a senior management or executive capacity
5. Experience in high transaction based business to consumer business model
6. Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of enterprise applications
7. Experience with managing organizational change and scale in a high growth organization
8. Experience with managing expense and capital budgets
9. Experience in delivering results in a professional services environment
10. Strong influence-management, negotiation, leadership assertiveness, conflict resolution, communication and presentation skills, can-do, high energy and results orientation a must
11. Ability to think strategically and act at a detailed execution level with strong quantitative and analytical skills
