Works on a technical team as the senior Gateway Unix engineer providing on-site technical support to Government Customers Gateway activities at Arnold. Work includes loading, configuring, testing, and maintaining Gateway servers and operating systems; developing and writing Engineering Plans and associated Change Requests; integration and testing of new Windows & Unix servers on Gateway systems; supporting system data storage devices and operations, and developing custom solutions for Gateway requirements as required. Work location is on-site at the Government Customer site in Arnold, Missouri.

Duties and qualifications, identifying both essential and marginal duties:
Essential duties involve loading operating system software, configuring servers/systems to operate with the existing Gateway architecture, maintaining Gateway systems, and troubleshooting server/system and user problems and issues on the Gateway Unix and Windows servers. Primary duties also include performing the required technical adjustments and modifications needed to obtain/maintain security certification and accreditation on the Gateway servers/systems. Also included in primary duties are developing and writing engineering plans and the associated Change Requests needed to effect new or changed operations at the Arnold Gateway, and to perform all job duties according to the IT/IS processes and procedures. Primary duties entail providing Unix OS technical expertise across all elements of the Gateway servers/systems and storage systems, and supporting the operations & sustainment (O&S) of the Gateway servers in the NDC-W. Marginal duties include maintaining SOP documentation and developing new SOP’s as required, developing and performing training sessions as needed, investigating hardware and software compatibility issues, and mentoring more junior systems engineers on the Gateway team.


Physical Requirements:
Able to lift and carry 50 lbs (e.g., assist in rack-mounting a server or relocating a monitor). Visual acuity to work on a computer for extended periods of time

Education, Skill, and Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline required (e.g., computer science, computer programming, math, physics, or other analytical disciplines) and at least 5 years experience or 7-12 years relative experience. Prefer experience as a UNIX system administrator with nominal technical experience with networking and Windows OS. Ability to work independently under general direction, very strong analytical/problem-solving capabilities, and ability/desire to learn new techniques are required. Team-oriented attitude and mature professional demeanor required. System administrator experience with Windows OS and network storage devices is a plus.

Security Clearance Required:
An active TS/SCI security clearance is required to start work
