Assignment: Large Group Underwriting

Assignment Capsule As an underwriting manager you will: function as a leader and guide for associates in delivering underwriting services for a specific business segment. You will lead risk management processes and assure both the financial integrity and strategic compatibility of underwriting decisions within the larger business context. Oversee the effective assessment of financial risk by underwriting associates Ensure that underwriting associates understand departmental goals and the role of the department in achieving Humana's business objectives Manage the workflow, procedures and appropriate training and education of the underwriting team Facilitate daily contact with various levels of management, regional sales offices, agents, employers and internal associates across all operational areas Promote high-quality performance by developing and clearly outlining expectations for each associate

Role Essentials Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or a related field Progressive underwriting experience for either a large or small group population Demonstrated supervisory experience Knowledge of Administrative Services Only and Self-Funded processes
Role Desirables Master's Degree in Business Administration or a related field
Reporting Relationships You will have 5-10 direct reports, and you will report to an Underwriting Director. This area is under the leadership of the SVP & Chief Operating Officer.
