Assess liability and damages, and develop defenses to allegations for successful resolution of cases Attend hearings and conduct trials Argue motions, take effective depositions of lay and expert witnesses Consult with clients and opposing counsel and the judiciary Coordinate the case handling with claims personnel Complete necessary system documentation Assist other attorneys in resolving calendar conflicts Three to five years litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense Jury trial experience a plus Juris Doctorate degree and member in good standing of Louisiana state bar Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Westlaw, and the internet Ability to work well with others on a team of attorneys, paralegals, administrative assistants, supervised by an attorney Lead Counsel
Experience, Knowledge, Formal Training: Broad knowledge of business area's processes including best practices.
Analytical/Technical Skills: Application of clearly defined analytical procedures and concepts used to integrate and analyze data and make general assumptions and recommend action plans. Ability to leverage technical skills in the achievement of team objectives.
Communication Skills: Moderate communications skills required to draft reports, memos, and business letters and give instructions to others.
Job complexity: Concentrates on a variety of complex processes that require solutions that are imaginative, thorough and practicable.
Decision Making: Recommends actions for defined processes or programs. Assists in the attainment of team objectives, which includes appropriate processes in developing and/or delivering products and services.
