Discover Network cards are currently accepted at more than 4 million merchant and cash access locations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

The Corporate Treasury department within Discover Financial Services manages the company’s financial resources with respect to capital planning, long-term and short-term funding, liquidity planning, asset-liability matching, interest rate risk management, rating agency and creditor relations, and cash management.
Job Description:
The Capital Planning & Funds Transfer Pricing Manager will be responsible for the following initiatives within Treasury:
• Manage and develop an economic capital framework across multiple Discover entities
• Develop and perform analysis for the share-repurchase strategy with internal and external partners
• Perform competitor analysis on the capital management practices of Discover’s credit card peers
• Improve the Funds Transfer Pricing methodology and develop match funding analytics between the receivables portfolio and the funding portfolio
• Coordinate Treasury’s contribution to 10Q and 10K disclosures, in conjunction with Finance
• Contribute to the production of comprehensive materials to be presented to major rating agencies
• Coordinate high-level reporting functions in Treasury to provide updates that allow senior management to effectively handle risk on an ongoing basis
• Collaborate with Short-Term Funding Desk, Cash Management, Creditor Relations, and Capital Markets on a broad set of initiatives
• Ad hoc responsibilities for Treasury Senior Management
The Capital Planning & Funds Transfer Pricing Manager will contribute to executive strategic forums such as:
• Asset / Liability Committee – a monthly review with ALCO members on firm funding strategies, interest rate risk management, and liquidity planning
• Rating agency meetings – provide strategic updates for meetings with major rating agencies (Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s, Fitch) attended by the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, to discuss Discover’s funding strategies and liability management
• Securities and Exchange Commission meetings – the SEC relies on Discover’s senior management to communicate high-level information related to financial statements, liquidity benchmarks, and funding activities
SKILLS Required: Required Skills:
• 4-6(+) years of work experience in Capital Planning, Shares Repurchase and Funds Transfer Pricing.
• Knowledge of Treasury’s activities, both practical and theoretical
• Ownership of high-level ideas and information
• Strong quantitative and logical acumen
• A positive, highly motivated manager who exhibits leadership
• Attention to detail and responsibility
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Good team player with interpersonal skills
• High-performance, high-quality approach to managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, and Bloomberg
Desired: Desired Skills:

• Experience with an Capital/ALM system such as QRM or Bancware
• Experience with Funds Transfer Pricing
• Familiarity with Microsoft Access or other database program

Education:
• Bachelor Degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
• An MBA and/or CFA is strongly preferred
