Who We're Looking For... This position, know at Trader Joe's as a "Regional Mobile Thriver" is essentially a fast-track corporate-sponsored training program designed to recruit mobile, experienced retail managers to train for available Second Mate (assistant manager) positions in our new and expanding markets. RMTs are hired as "Novitiates" (our entry-level supervisor) and train in three to four local stores over 12 to 18 months. This training, guided by a "Training Team" of local store Captains is designed to be fast and rigorous. The RMT program is not for everyone, and only the most experienced and mobile candidates will qualify.
The ideal RMT candidate has:

experience
· 5+ years of retail, restaurant, or other related experience
· 3+ years of recent management experience at the level of
Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager
· Demonstrated ability to lead teams and motivate others
· History of promotions and increased responsibilities with
previous employers
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Ability to thrive in a physically active work environment
· Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
· Ability to assess and develop talent
· Passion for Trader Joe's
· Openness to relocation
Where You'll Go... During the recruitment process you will have an opportunity to learn about our growth areas and predesignate those areas of the country where you would be willing to accept a Second Mate position after training. Recent RMT placements include stores in Michigan, Connecticut, New York, Maryland and Virginia, among others. Trader Joe's provides a very attractive relocation package that offers paid transportation of your household goods, paid time off for house hunting, and a generous lump sum to cover other move-related expenses.
The Road You'll Travel...On the path to Second Mate, all new trainees start as "Novitiates," our entry-level supervisory position. As a member of our Crew, Novitiates participate in all aspects of store operations including register, customer service, product receiving, display building and stocking...but most importantly, our Crew is responsible for making sure that our Customers have a truly terrific shopping adventure! Schedules will include late nights (some overnights may be required), early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Hey, this is retail!
What You'll Get...New RMTs work 5 days per week, 9 1/2 hours per day, and earn $45,000 to $60,000 per year to start! They also enjoy 2 consecutive days off, something you won't find with most other retailers. Once you reach Second Mate, you could expect a base salary of approximately $75,000 plus a bonus. There are also many benefits* available to our Crew, including the following:
