The primary focus of this role is to support test engineering and new product introduction teams during the development of new products, their transition into manufacturing, and sustaining activities during their lifetime.  The test engineer will collaborate with peers and cross-functional team members as a technical expert to develop a comprehensive manufacturing test plan that covers the complete manufacturing process.  The test engineer will apply additional focus with the design engineering team to identify all areas of the product that require functional or performance testing and develop a test and measurement strategy that will satisfy the associated test requirements/specifications.   The test engineer will further collaborate with the design team during the early stages of product development to identify new or existing architecture capabilities that could be leveraged to improve embedded test and diagnostic SW coverage.

The test engineer will perform in a developer role, with the support of other team members, to satisfy the requirements of the manufacturing test plan. The test engineer will act as a technical lead during the product transition from engineering into production.  Additional tasks may be performed on individual projects under the direction and approval of the test engineering manager.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of skill and experience

• Proven test engineering experience developing comprehensive manufacturing test solutions with a high degree of automation for complex electronic products and assemblies.

• Experience working in a high tech manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of new product introduction and product sustaining processes is required.

• Experience working with 3rd party contract manufacturers to perform DFM and DFT activities for new product designs

• Experience performing new product transfer, training and sustaining efforts at internal and contract manufacturing facilities.

• Excellent time management skills along with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.   The candidate will be required to complete tasks on schedule with moderate direct supervision while presenting/reviewing results and status at regular intervals. MS Project experience a plus.

• Excellent documentation skills and experience with MS Office suite, MS Visio. Experience developing detailed work procedures for various technical personnel is required.

• Excellent PC knowledge (Windows XP OS) which includes installation and configuration of HW drivers, custom SW, and low level OS settings.

• Solid software programming experience using. Experience with the following languages strongly desired: National Instruments LabView and Teststand, c, c++, c# VBscript, JavaScript, Windows Powershell, COM, .net.

• The position requires solid system level troubleshooting skills to support debug of faulty equipment down to the board, module, and component level. 

• The position requires solid mechanical skills to support the assembly / disassembly of prototype and production units.

• Occasional overtime and ability to travel for short durations are required.

In addition to the requirements above, the following characteristics are strongly desired:

• Experience developing embedded diagnostics on real-time OS platforms; VxWorks experience a plus.

• Experience with bug tracking and revision control systems; Borland StarTeam, MS Visual Source Safe, Rational ClearCase experience a plus.

• Experience in the use, configuration, and debug of various networking standards and protocols and associated software tools; TCP/IP, Telnet, SNMP.

• Experience automating electronic devices and specialized test equipment using various protocols; RS-232, RS-422, GPIB, TCP/IP, SNMP, Telnet, VXI-11, BVW and AMP.

• Background in audio and video test methodology, applicable standards, interface formats, and familiarity with associated test equipment. 

• Candidates possessing experience with Grass Valley product will be given special consideration.
