Job Summary:
The purpose of the Technical Specialist I – Engineering Checker position is to: Check drawings for conformance to Company requirements as directed. Check parts for fit, form and function to the extent that information is available. Check CATIA and other CAD datasets in accordance with Company requirements as directed.
Drawing checkers are responsible for determining the acceptability of data in the following areas: Accuracy and completeness of Engineering product definition data, including CAD and PDM data. Proper application and compliance with all Engineering and customer drawing requirements. Dimensioning and tolerancing, including familiarity with ASME Y14.5. Application of Best Drafting and Design Practices and Procedures. Application of extensive and diversified knowledge of industry fabrication practices for aircraft parts. Advising Design personnel regarding GAC Drawing and Design Practices and Procedures. Maintenance of a current and up-to-date knowledge of developments in the Structures/Systems Design disciplines drawing/data requirements, as well as all interrelated disciplines of Design Build teams. Assisting in the Research and Development of Product Data Management (PDM)/Computer-Aided Design (CAD) applications and methodologies for Engineering and, when necessary, other departments. Actively working to improve daily processes and ensuring that all Data Integrity work and CAD and PDM solutions meet customer requirements.

Requirements:
Required Skills for the Tooling Planner III position include the following: Minimum five (5) years of Engineering experience, with at least three (3) years of Aerospace Drawing/Checking experience Bachelor degree in Engineering or a related curriculum, or an equivalent combination of appropriate education and experience Must have strong knowledge of: Aircraft Engineering practices Design principles GAC practices and requirements at all levels throughout the Engineering and Manufacturing organization Minimum of 10,000 hours of CATIA v4; CATIA v5 experience a plus; ENOVIA LCA/VPM knowledge preferred BONUS: MRB experience desirable SmarTeam experience a plus
