Sales Representative – Mid-South/East Territory
a technology-driven manufacturer of performance chemicals and industrial components. We are currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Sales Representative located out of the NC, SC, VA or WV area for its Performance Products Chemicals Division of Chemical, LLC. This position will be working specifically for the Water Treatment Chemicals Business Unit. Under general supervision, you will sell the assigned company products and services (specifically related to alum) by interacting with established customers as well as developing prospects into productive accounts. Your goal is to maximize sales volume and corporate profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plans and schedules sales calls on existing customers to solicit orders, maintain established relationships, render continuing service and answer inquiries and complaints.
2. Develops new accounts through prospecting and cold calls by introducing Chemical and explaining how company’s products can benefit potential customers by solving water treatment problems or lowering overall treatment costs.
3. Develops and executes account strategies by building personal knowledge and reporting on one’s market and territory, Chemical products and applications, as well as competitors’ products and sales policies.
4. Provides weekly and monthly highlight reports.
5. Enhances Team Selling Approach and performs special assignments as required.
6. Develops and provides technical knowledge of assigned products and service applications to better serve the customer.
7. Collects data and maintains accurate account records. Fulfills other reporting functions including, but not limited to, written sales call reports, and expense reports on a timely basis.
8. Follows up and reports on prospective leads.
9. Provides input to establish annual territorial objectives with concurrence of Director-Sales; monitors and reports progress and develops recommendations for corrective action.
10. Performs on site testing as required to accelerate new business opportunities and encourage plant trials.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (ie., Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, etc.) preferred. MBA or Master’s in technical discipline preferred. Three to five years of industrial sales experience preferable.
Individual must be computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Must possess excellent and effective oral and written communication skills and be self-motivated and results oriented. Overnight travel is required; must be able to operate an automobile on a regular basis.
This is an approximately $15 million sales territory located in the mid South/East (Virginia, West Virginia, North and South Carolina). Applicant must reside in this geography. The territory is broken down as follows: 75% of job would be maintaining current accounts - 50% Municipality and Drinking Water/Wastewater, 25% Pulp & Paper; 25% of job would be in the prospecting and growth aspect of the territory. There would be some distributor involvement – it would be approximately 25%.
