Besides the main laboratories and corporate headquarters in Kansas City, MRI has two rural field stations for conducting agricultural research and projects involving hazardous operations. MRI also has offices and laboratories in Palm Bay, Florida; Falls Church, Virginia; and Rockville and Frederick, Maryland. In addition, MRI operates and manages the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Colorado for the U.S. Department of Energy. Program Managers for projects and operational task within the division. In this position the selected candidate will;

Coordinates accounting, contractual, and administrative activities to support program operations. Monitors and reports contractual and financial performance for projects and division-based contracts Interacts with project Sponsor staff for basic administrative tasks and information transfer. Serves as liaison with administrative divisions to ensure compliance with MRI policy and procedures.

Other duties may include assisting with preparation of contract and project budgets, WBS, and contract/project close-out procedures. Additionally this person will monitor the status of work assignments issued on Federal contracts and prepares analyses and reports of actual performance relative to contract requirements, budgets, cost estimates, and other criteria.

Additional responsibilities may include;

Gathers, develops, and reviews reports and information to prepare contract specific financial analyses; assists with preparation of work assignment, delivery order, and project progress reports. Organizes and maintains project files. Coordinates and prepares monthly reports, financial tracking and miscellaneous administrative activities for assorted projects and programs. Monitors and analyzes financial and contractual status of contracts work assignments and delivery orders. Interacts with corporate administrative divisions to resolve financial, contractual, and word processing issues. Coordinates start-up and close-out work assignments/contracts, project kick-off meetings, assigns charge numbers and reconciles incurred expenses. Ensures project labor and other direct costs are allocated to appropriate accounting cost codes. Develops and designs computerized spreadsheets and databases using commercial business PC software. Transfers information to other geographic locations via dial-up data communications software.

Success Factors

To be successful in this position the selected candidate must;

Proficient PC skills and ability to learn new software/systems. Able to communicate and interact effectively with technical/administrative staff at all levels. Able to work in a team-based environment, under pressure, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Well organized, detail oriented, and dependable. Able to perform arithmetic calculations. Must have the Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Minimum Qualifications; High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training in a research or academic environment.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to meet the government security investigation requirements, U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite.
