To supervise, facilitate and coordinate the activities of production workers, across all three shifts, assigned to perform operations in the Brewhouse, Fermenting Cellars or Finishing Cellars or to provide full department coordination of scheduling, quality performance, safety, GMP, inventory, cleaning standards and other related activities. To ensure operations are cost efficient and comply with established quality standards. To ensure adherence to safety guidelines and directives, established GMP and sanitation practices, material use specifications and production scheduling guidelines. Must possess advanced technical knowledge of brewing, fermenting and finishing technology or related process industry. Must be aware of and ensure compliance with established safety procedures and practices, equipment operating guidelines, production efficiency standards, sanitation/GMP requirements specific to each operational area and environmental programs. Knowledge of OSHA standards, FDA regulations, TTB and EPA reporting requirements are required. Have a working knowledge of process control systems, computerized data logging systems and production database operations, mechanical systems dynamics and basic electrical systems. This includes the components of the various systems such as pumps, valves, timers, relays, drives, fans, etc. Possess basic machinery/system technical troubleshooting skills and a knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems. Be conversant with the planning and scheduling techniques associated with Maintenance management. Be able to effectively supervise a diverse workforce composed of production and maintenance personnel establishing production priorities based on current demands. Be familiar with and able to administer the provisions of the various labor contracts pertinent to those personnel assigned from the various bargaining units. Uses basic technical/functional job knowledge and applies that knowledge to direct operations. Establishes and executes daily plans (staffing, changeovers, schedules, etc.) for work groups. Builds effective and collaborative working relationships and a sense of team work within the work group. Evaluates situations and takes responsibility for decision making process. Effectively communicates with team members, peers, and managers across the organization to insure appropriate information is provided to maximize performance. Assesses team members' training needs and insures training is provided to optimize operational effectiveness. Basic understanding of business processes, financial indicators, and the budgeting process. Effectively guides team(s) through change process. Direct operations within the assigned area of the Brewing Department in accordance with established practices and procedures. Adhere to published schedules and revise schedules as required to maximize efficient use of equipment while ensuring adequate production volumes are available to meet production requirements. Responsible for Safety, Product Quality, Production and Sanitation Performance measures for a functional area on one shift. Monitor the performance of production employees to ensure compliance with safe operating practices and standard operating procedures. Participate in the coordination of maintenance activities needed to ensure continued safety and productivity of equipment and physical plant, including problem diagnosis and resolution. Ensure operators adhere to established practices as outlined in the Brewing Procedures Manual and applicable Quality Assurance standards. A college degree, (preferably in Chemical Engineering or another Engineering field), or equivalent experience is required.
