TAX COST CLASSIFICATION/SEGREGATION - SENIOR Manager POSITION SUMMARY Grant Thornton's Cost Classification practice, part of Strategic Federal Tax Services (SFTS), uses specialized, national staff to provide expert services to our clients. Our approach to Cost Classification is tax-oriented. While many of our competitors' offerings rely on engineers to establish cost, we understand that actual costs are readily available in existing construction and purchase documents. Therefore, our approach is oriented to the intelligent application of up-to-the-minute depreciation principles set down by the Internal Revenue Service, by judicial bodies and by practice. Grant Thornton's Cost Classification experience and our database of guidance from all tax jurisdictions nationwide, coupled with our tax-oriented approach, enables us to maximize reclassification opportunities quickly and efficiently, often at lower fees than less experienced firms. We have performed studies for dozens of companies in a variety of industries, and we have the expertise to maximize our clients' overall tax savings. Few firms offer Grant Thornton's ability to uncover the full range of savings available. The SFTS Cost Classification Associate researches tax issues, conducts fieldwork, and supports sales and marketing efforts. The SFTS R&D group consists of regional teams directed by a national leader.
