Role Summary: Lead tax controllership function for regulated bank subsidiary of GE. Ensures financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and proper tax reporting of all business transactions on US tax returns to include preparation and/or review of work papers and supporting documentation, extraction of information from accounting systems, analysis and documentation of book vs. tax differences, calculation of tax basis of all assets/liabilities.
Essential Responsibilities: Integral member of Commercial Finance tax controllership committee able to provide high profile business presence and ability to integrate best practice sharing. Responsible for all tax balances in the general ledger for all businesses doing business in and through the bank and reporting for same in regulated external reportings. Coordinate with bank Controller's organization on all matters relative to the periodic regulated reporting of financial statements Oversee and participate in preparation of quarterly account reconciliations, return to accrual, FAS 109 calculations, accounting for amended tax return adjustments, FIN 48, quarterly consolidated ETR, and tax settlements Perform sign-off of quarterly tax account reconciliations and balances Prepare annual tax return filings, quarterly estimated tax calculations, support tax audit activities as required by GE Corporate Tax, prepare qualified amended return adjustments and state apportionment calculations Work with tax and finance teams on bank tax accounting issues and assessment of US and state tax provisions including balance sheet analysis and review of US and state deferred tax assets during quarterly closings Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Requirements: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO SATISFY THE REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 19 OF THE FEDERAL DEPOSIT INSURANCE ACT. Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years plus experience in tax controllership Knowledge of US GAAP and tax accounting principles Experience in preparation and review of large, detailed corporate tax returns
