Assignment Capsule We are currently seeking a Tax Accountant to join the Tax Department in our Louisville headquarters. This individual will work with the tax manager and will be challenged primarily with the following responsibilities: Research of applicable transaction taxes in all taxing jurisdictions where Humana does business. Document processes and write procedures to ensure tax compliance. Maintain tax calendars. Review and/or prepare state and local tax returns. This process may involve interaction with numerous departments including corporate accounting, legal, treasury and systems development. Maintain tax records; prepare schedules and related reports for state and local tax returns. Maintain and provide timely and accurate reconciliations of various general ledger accounts and performs special projects as assigned. Utilize computer applications to compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for analyses and reporting purposes Coordinate transaction tax audits for taxing entities. Introduce or develop new ideas and processes which improve performance or productivity Train and develop staff

Role Essentials Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or related field required. 2 - 4 year accounting experience required. Desire sales and use tax experience. Strong tax compliance skills necessary. Experience with computerized tax software programs desired. Other required computer skills include Excel, Word and Power Point. Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills. Ability to operate with minimal direction and handle several projects simultaneously. Judgment and independent decision making required for moderately complex issues. Knowledge of tax law and current developments. Ability to multitask.
