Optivus is currently looking for an experienced Systems Design Engineer to join our team of
professionals and assist us with our mission of saving lives through Proton
Beam Therapy.
Proton Beam Therapy has become a reality to thousands of cancer survivors and is now expanding around the world. In addition to its clinical value, the Proton Beam Treatment System is an effective platform for
international research programs requiring high-energy particle physics capabilities. Optivus Proton Therapy, Inc. is a growing manufacturer of proton beam treatment centers with corporate head quarters located in
Southern California. We offer a highly professional environment, a competitive salary and a complete benefits package. If you are looking for an excellent opportunity in a positive environment with a stable and growing company, we welcome your resume.
Summary:General tasks include advanced systems engineering for: developing system conceptual architectures from customer inputs to goals and requirements for proton treatment systems, system planning and design, and risk management for medical devices development projects. Translates high level system requirements into architectural block diagrams of proposed embedded systems implementations that would fulfill the hardware/software functional and performance requirements. Performs trade studies and analyses to optimize selection from design alternatives, beginning with the system architectures. Works with other engineering disciplines throughout the system design process to develop integrated subsystem concepts into the comprehensive system design.
The tasks of the projects/programs in a targeted research and medical production equipment development environment often require the use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines
Duties:Quickly develops solid global understanding of functionality of proton treatment facility equipment and system support interfaces.Develops and maintains working knowledge of the technologies available for use in a proton treatment facilitySystems Design EngineeringProcess:Translates high level customer inputs into key system functional and performance requirements and proposed preliminary architectures of hardware and software subsystems that would fulfill them. Assists developing the Preliminary Hazard Analyses. Performs trade-off analyses to determine the recommended concept design architecture upon which to base the allocations of hardware and software requirements for driving the system design. Supports project (technical, schedule, and cost) risk management, beginning at conceptual stage of system architectures Develops initial system specification requirements and supports multi-discipline engineering teams with allocating/deriving verifiable requirements into their hardware and software specifications. Assists development of project Hazard Analyses and assignment of risk level reduction methods to requirements and documents. Assists development of Fault Tree Analyses.Develops and maintains cross-disciplines system interfaces and tracks issues that otherwise are likely to “fall through the cracks”Participates in design reviews of subsystems (hardware and software) to ensure conformance with the current system design.Assists development of system level hardware and software requirements verification procedures.Assists development of Systems Engineeringproject/process metrics and process improvementsDemonstrates extensive knowledge of system design specialtyProvides technical guidance to and mentors lower level systems engineers.Project Team Leadership Support (as needed)Coordinates multi-disciplined integrated project teams fulfillment of Optivus product development processPrepares and delivers presentations to customers and Optivus managementEstablishes and recommends new methods to enhance the current proton therapy treatment facilitiesResponds immediately to pages during normal business hours and within a reasonable amount of time outside of normal business hours (M-F, 8-5) and 24 hours a day when assigned on callWork schedule may vary to accommodate equipment availability or necessary facility access
