Position Description:

Responsible for general UNIX administration functions including installation and administration of application software, monitoring the usage and plans for future capacity needs, defining and developing reliable and secure back up and restore procedures, preparing disaster recovery plans. Manage Engineering infrastructure for the software groups. Provide better secure and reliable Engineering environment. Install maintain and support Sun Solaris, HP-UX and Linux RedHat Servers. Provide daily support, licensing and installation of third party tools. Manage Network Appliance file servers and Enterprise Back up Systems. Edit/update NIS maps as needed. Integrate new technologies into the existing UNIX and NT Infrastructure. Perform other duties as requested. Excellent Knowledge in NetApp Filers; EMC NAS Celrra NS & CX Series, Sun HW, UNIX Security (Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, etc.), DNS, Mail, NIS, NFS, DHCP, Proxy, RDP, Kerberos, Oracle, WebLogic BEA, etc.

Qualifications:

Prefer Bachelor degree in Engineering and computer science or related field and 5+ years experience in system administration of Sun Solaris, Linux RedHat and HP-UX servers and desktops, preferable hi-tech, fast growth environment. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Candidate must be able to multi-task in fast paced, ever-changing environment, experience with configuring SMTP mail servers, NIS and NIS+, DNS, DHCP and exposure to UNIX/ windows 95/NT interoperability. Knowledge of Network Appliance file servers. Shell scripting ability. Must have good understanding or knowledge of RAID Technology. Veritas Volume Manger/ Files System, Veritas NetBackup and Cluster Server . Some PC/NT skills and knowledge of AFS, DFS, Citrix Server, network and system security would be very helpful.
