Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or
equivalent combination of education and/ or experience with three or
more years of relevant work experience. Must have at least 2 years
experience in a position demonstrating project programming and/or system
administration skills. Requires thorough knowledge of the architecture
of operating systems and networks; understanding of basic and advanced
algorithms and data structures, and their performance implications; and
knowledge of database systems with the ability to write SQL queries.
Experience managing large-scale Unix and Windows computing environments,
knowledge of common security threats to Unix and Windows systems, and
what approaches can be used to defend against them are required. Must be
able to apply knowledge to design and configuration of computing
systems; design and write programs in a variety of system programming
languages, including C, C++, Perl, Python, Java, HTML, PHP, Shell, and
others; and analyze extensive factual material pertaining to data
processing equipment and prepare recommendations for new equipment and
changes or revisions to existing installations. In addition, must be
able to prepare clear, concise, technically sound, accurate and
comprehensive reports of computer and network system performance.
