Our client is a $65M, private-equity backed consumer products manufacturing company which continues to experience significant growth. Due to this continued growth, we are seeking a Manager for its Supply Chain Management (SCM) organization.  The SCM manager oversees all aspects of raw material purchasing, global supplier relationships and contracts, material planning, inventory and warehouse management, and logistics for all table and chair product lines.  The manager reports to the VP - Manufacturing and is responsible for three direct reports and 25 employees.  He/she is responsible for implementing our client’s tactical plan and for providing direction in the company’s operations strategy. 

 

Position Summary

 

Reporting to the VP-Manufacturing, this position is responsible for managing the company’s supply chain for all table and chair product lines.

 

Position Description

 

The Supply Chain Manager will be:

Accountable for leading, coaching, and actively directing the supply chain team to implement the company’s tactical plan and accomplish company performance, quality and cost goals.  Functions include Kanban, Global Purchasing, Global Logistics, Warehouse, and Planning management.Accountable for effectively implementing Supply Chain tactics that enable a lean manufacturing production system.Responsible for effectiveness of all purchasing, inventory management, and logistics functions.Responsible for creating global supplier relationships and evaluating supplier performance on a frequent basis.Responsible for managing day-to-day relationships with key suppliers and OEM partners.Accountable for conducting spend analyses and negotiating commodity contracts on a regular basis. Responsible for driving quality and continuous improvement initiatives both inside and outside the company.Responsible for the management of RMA return, repair, and sparing to support warranty and service contract obligations.

 

Skills Required

 

Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred; Operations Management or Business disciplines preferred.  Relevant experience and/or professional degrees (ie. Inventory Management, Purchasing, Lean) also highly regarded.Minimum 10 years experience working in companies in a Planning / Purchasing / Supplier Performance / Logistics Management role.Minimum of 5 years of experience in functional line management directing employees in support of Supply Chain directives.Experience in the development and implementation of key Supply Chain and Logistics strategies supporting Lean production systems.Experience in the development and implementation of Kanban pull systems.Experience in the review and negotiation of supplier contracts.Experience in the management of supplier performance and quality.Experience sourcing raw materials and outsourcing production internationally.  Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.Expertise in the use of key software tools including MRP, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Knowledge of MS Access and Crystal Reports a plus.

This position is based in Utah and relocation expenses will be paid for by the company.
