HBD is currently searching for a supervisor for one of our intensive behavioral group homes for adults and adolescents with developmental disabiltiies and intensive problem behaviors. Hours are currently mid shift (1st and 2nd shift) and will encompass at least one weekend day. Some on-call hours are required for this position.

Communicates with staff, family, guardians and individuals, using a non-defensive communication style that respects each individual and is understanding of their feelings/needs.Responsibilities include:
Providing direct supervision for direct care staff on all assigned shifts. Providing and directing daily interactions between our individuals, staff, and the community at large. Ensuring that daily activities are carried out safely with, and for the individual in the areas of medication administration, bathing dressing, grooming, eating, toileting, household chores, leisure activities and skills development. Ensuring that behavioral supports are provided as directed to enhance social opportunities and promote achievement of desired life goals. Scheduling and accompaniment of our individuals into various community settings for appointments, shopping trips and leisure activities. Implementing and supervising direct care staff in their implementation of behavioral interventions to minimize disruptive behaviors. Identifying challenging behavior and implementing proactive interventions to minimize negative effects. Implementing the individuals’ active treatment programs as scheduled, according to strategies and procedures, and ensuring the proper documentation of individuals’ response/behavior as defined in the training programs.Supervisor will receive direct supervision from the Residential Manager and general supervision from the Program Director.
Qualifications for the position
1. Education: Bachelor's in social services/psychology or related field. In some cases, experience can be substituted in part for education requirements
2. Experience: Two years in experience in the social or human services field, one of which should be in supervision. In some cases, education can be substituted for experience qualifications.
3. License: Florida Driver’s License
4. Certifications: a. -Have or is able to obtain CPR certification by the
completion of orientation. Must maintain certification
during employment
b. -Have or is able to obtain Professional Crisis
Management certification by the completion of orientation.
Must maintain certification during employment
c. -Have or is able to obtain certification in behavioral
analysis training (20 hours)within 3 months of employment.
5. Physical Requirements: Able to lift and carry 25 to 50 pounds. Push, pull, reach and bend. Maneuver quickly and respond to emergencies. Apply approved physical holds. Possess good visual and auditory ability.
6. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
7. Knowledge of basic supervision principles.
8. Knowledge of the principles of active treatment in the field of developmental disabilities
9. Knowledge of basic behavioral intervention strategies used in the field of developmental disabilities.
