We are currently in search of a structural engineer to support multiple projects. A summary of the responsibilities and qualification is provided below.

Responsibilities:

-Structural steel design and analysis for various fossil power plant projects. Includes preparing engineering computations, cost estimates, project specifications, and schedules, and inspecting/monitoring construction to ensure it conforms to design requirements and standards.

-May also include checking and approving contractor submittals and shop drawings.

Skill Requirements:

-Analyze existing structures to determine allowable additional loading

-Design access facilities (platforms, ladders, stairs, etc) to enable maintenance and repair work to equipment.

-Design temporary structures to support equipment components during repair (boiler waterwalls, headers, etc)

-Design temporary restraints for heavy wall pipe removal and replacement (main steam, reheat, etc)

-Design material handling systems (monorails, trolleys, hoists, etc) to allow the installation of boiler components.

Example Projects:

-Provide support structure and access platforms for hexcrome fans in the boiler.

-Provide access to boiler doors at the top of the boiler.

-Provide a ramp for access from the boiler to the SCR.

-Replace waterwall panels in the furnace

-Replace boiler backend components like superheat, reheat, economizer air heater, etc

Qualifications:

-BS degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis

-Registered PE with ability to obtain license in Pennsylvania within 3 months

-Detailed knowledge of engineering standards and codes, such as AISC, OSHA, AWS, IBC, etc.
