The Ernst & Young Center for Business Knowledge (CBK) provides Ernst & Young professionals with information and knowledge resources that help win work and deliver efficient, quality service to clients. The CBK manages the firm intranet infrastructure so professionals can store and retrieve knowledge internally, and provides access to external business content, as well as creates tools and processes for sharing information. The CBK also provides customized company, industry, and competitor research and analysis to help Ernst & Young professionals stay informed about the business environments of our clients.
This Strategic Analyst will focus on Private Equity account support, co-development of thought leadership and project-based annuity analysis.
The successful candidate will use a wide variety of sources to produce company and industry focused reports, quick turnaround research packs, and market intelligence tailored to specific PE pursuits. This will include analysis of deal activity, market sector trends as well as company specific financials and strategy.
A solid grasp of all relevant corporate finance research tools (eg, Dealogic, Factset, SDC, Bloomberg, etc.) as well as a strong analytical capability are required.
The candidate should be comfortable dealing with customers at all levels of the business, and be able to present their findings using standard office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
JOB SPECIFICATIONThis is an Assistant Director level role.
5 - 7 years relevant corporate finance/investment banking experience
Corporate Finance (preferably PE) market focused
Strong grasp of standard financial metrics and quantitative analysis techniques
Superior analytical abilities
Strong grasp of key databases and systems (Dealogic, Factset, SDC Platinum, Factiva, Bloomberg, etc.)
Able to develop a network of contacts around the firm, across industry and service line teams, to connect customers in PE with internal specialists
RESPONSIBILITIES Provide industry and market analysis to support business development. Demonstrate the ability to work closely with client teams, brainstorm, debate, etc. Participate on project teams to create analyses from structured requests. Review due diligence reports; provide benchmarking. Continuously develop in-depth knowledge of the marketplace and our key accounts. Share and leverage knowledge across the firm globally.
REQUIREMENTSMaster's Degree (Business Administration or Library/Information Science) with at least 5 years experience in corporate finance/ investment banking research.
Good understanding of Private Equity market - what it is, how deals work - and ability to communicate with PE customers in their own language. Strong grasp of financial statements, ability to analyse financial data to support pursuits (eg, financial ratios, listed company metrics etc) A flexible self-starter, able to deliver to tight deadlines and cope with dynamic and changing requests in a fast paced corporate finance team. Strong project management skills are essential. Intellectual curiosity and rigorous attention to quality and detail are crucial. Ability to write well and clearly communicate data and insights in a structured fashion. Excellent team attitude, strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as experience dealing at all levels of a large organization. Expert user of Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Some travel is required.
