Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE –
Store Managers are responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of Home Depot stores. They are responsible for maximizing store sales and profitability while working ethically and modeling Home Depot core values. They accomplish this goal by developing strategies and objectives and leading a team of Associates in executing these strategies and objectives. They must ensure that the store is optimally stocked and merchandised and that all Customers are provided with excellent customer service. A Store Manager must have a comprehensive knowledge of Home Depot business, be able to use this knowledge to formulate goals and objectives and be capable of motivating his/her self and others to work as a team and accomplish these goals and objectives. They must also be capable of working with Associates, Department Supervisors and the Assistant Store Managers (ASMs) to accomplish goals.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
MANAGING THE BUSINESS - Managing all aspects of the store operation and profitability
PROVIDING EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE - Ensuring that the Home Depot shopping experience is provided to Customers (e.g., ensuring that Customers are acknowledged, customer project needs are met, complaints are resolved, service is quick and efficient, store is properly stocked) - Ensuring customer concerns are solved effectively and promptly - Forecasting scheduling needs and ensuring sufficient scheduling to meet customer demand in all areas - Using and coaching other Associates to use the racetrack to proactively seek and satisfy Customers
MERCHANDISING - Ensuring all products and displays are merchandised effectively in order to maximize sales and profitability - Walking the store with District Managers, Merchants and others to discuss and stay on top of merchandising issues
SUPERVISING ALL STORE ASSOCIATES - Recruiting and hiring the most qualified candidates to meet the store needs - Determining new Associates rate of pay - Observing and evaluating Associates job performance - Evaluating and making decisions about Associates performance-based pay increases - Having ultimate responsibility for terminations, promotions and demotions of store Associates - Coaching, training and developing Associates informally and through formal training programs, providing both informal (e.g., on-floor coaching) and formal (e.g., written evaluation) job performance-based feedback - Ensuring that all reviews are completed on time - Communicating store and Home Depot objectives to Associates - Communicating clear career paths for Associates - Motivating Associates to perform at a high level - Scheduling Associates work and training time - Taking appropriate action to minimize turnover
PLANNING - Developing and communicating store standards to Associates - Developing strategy in order to improve customer service, drive store sales and increase profitability - Working with Associates, Department Supervisors and ASMs to anticipate and solve problems and plan for upcoming events, seasonal changes, etc. - Developing a store mission and objectives and ensuring that they are met - Forecasting staffing needs and developing a recruiting and hiring strategy to ensure optimal store staffing in all areas - Shopping and studying competition to identify trends and develop new ideas
OTHER DUTIES - Ensuring Safety of Customers and Associates - Signing for petty cash, markdowns, time slips, refunds, price change take-in report, etc. - Verifying deposits - Following standard operating procedures to open and close the store when scheduled - Other duties as necessary to properly manage all aspects of the store operation and profitability

NATURE AND SCOPE - Reports directly to the District Manager

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the store, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surface. - The warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy. - Doors near the department are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes. - Floors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions. - May have to handle merchandise and work with tools with sharp edges. - Passing forklifts emit gas fumes. - Tools, supplies and related merchandise may contain hazardous materials. Physical Job Requirements - Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS –
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must pass the Background Check.
Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable.

EDUCATION REQUIRED - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS - Ability to work a flexible, 55 hours per week schedule.
