We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Biologist to join the Alzheimer's Disease, CNS Pharmacology group to support drug discovery programs for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Responsibilities for this position will be to determine the in vivo efficacy and pharmacodynamic properties of small molecule drugs to advance the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Additional responsibilities include contributing to the development of new disease models, exploring disease mechanisms of action and providing in vivo proof of concept for novel therapeutic targets.
Qualifications

A BS or MS in Neuroscience, Biochemistry or related discipline with laboratory experience is desired. A working knowledge of drug development practices and pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience will be an advantage.



The ideal candidate will possess experience working with in vivo disease models and various molecular and biochemical methodologies, and a basic understanding of neuropathology. The successful candidate should also be able to perform experiments, including, but not limited to drug administration by various routes, blood and CSF sampling, brain dissections and ex vivo analysis of tissues in various biochemical assays. Demonstrated technical experience in the development, optimization and validation of novel assays and detection platforms would also be desirable. The successful candidate should also possess all of the following: a high degree of motivation and creativity; excellent problem solving and analytical skills; the ability to work independently; the capacity to design scientific experiments and effectively document results; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and a demonstrated ability to work and learn in a professional team environment.
