Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant will report to the Controller of Southern Business Communications, a XEROX Company.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/BA in Accounting. 3 + years in accounting with emphasis in sales/use taxes, general ledger, fixed assets and property tax. Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

Major Responsibilities
Administer the preparation and filing of statutory forms and questionnaires, iPrepare monthly journal entries, accrual and reversals for sales and use taxes by location. Monthly balance sheet reconciliation of the sales and use tax account. Ensure the billing system on an on-going basis has the appropriate sales tax rates loaded, which will allow for accurate customer billing.Monthly accounting as well as filing and reporting of sales & use taxes by state and multiple jurisdictions. Ability to lead on all external sales and use tax auditsPrepare 1099 data for submission to the I.R.S at year-endEnsure business license for all states are filed on time Fixed asset and property tax accounting and filing returns by location. Monthly reconciliation of fixed asset subledger and accumulation depreciation to general ledger. Also responsible for preparing journal entries for month-end close.Managing capital expenditure projects working with purchasing and accounts payable to ensure all capital assets are loaded into our fixed asset subledger. Respond to ad-hoc tax requests for our Corporate officeLeasing Administration, coordinate all paperwork (K-12, etc) with Municipal Capital Corporation to ensure all documentation is supported for project funding.Fleet Administration, handling all monthly leasing activity (reviewing invoices for payment coding to appropriate location, etc..) with GE Leasing. Responsible for all tag renewals, etc.Insurance Administration, handling all property insurance claims ensuring they are file in a timely fashion. Responsible for ensuring all insurance cards related to fleet are administered on time. Point person for bids that require surety bonds. Responsible for providing all annual data by location to our Global’s Corporate Insurance Services group which estimates property and casualty insurance coverage for SBC.Responsible for reporting the Fixed Asset Rollforward schedule from our Working Capital Package (ESS) to Corporate during the month-end close process.EOE
