As a PayPal Sr Product Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of managing a PayPal payments product or service through all phases of the product lifecycle. From understanding market needs, to defining product strategy and detailed product requirements, to managing product launches and managing the product P&L post-launch, you will have accountability for all aspects of product and its success.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Conducting market and competitive research to identify new product and feature opportunities that can drive incremental revenue for PayPal
• Estimating the expected financial impacts of new product or feature development and building business cases for new products or product enhancements
• Developing market requirements documents (MRDs) to articulate market needs, competitive positioning, and market opportunities for new products or services
• Creating use cases and detailed product requirements documents to articulate desired product features and functionality to the technical design team
• Collaborating closely with technical product managers, technical architects, and engineers to ensure that the product solution that is designed and developed delivers to requirements and meets business needs
• Collaborating cross-organizationally with sales, marketing, customer support, operations, risk management, and other functional areas to manage all aspects of new product and service roll-outs
• Defining and implementing strategies for measuring and reporting adoption, usage and growth of PayPal products and services
• Helping manage the product P&L to ensure product profitability and providing periodic financial reporting for the product to the organization
• Acting as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding of the product and its features across the organization
• Minimum 5 - 7 years of work experience
• Product management experience in the payment processing industry, with a payment network, processor, ISO, or acquirer is preferred
• Deep knowledge of the payments and financial services industries, including transaction processing, payment networks, merchant acquiring, and risk management is preferred
• Demonstrated track record managing all aspects of a successful software or technology product throughout its lifecycle, including product strategy development, requirements definition, and product marketing
• Deep familiarity with industry standard software product design and development processes and tools, including UML/Rational Unified Process
• Demonstrated ability to create effective market requirements documents, use cases, and product requirements documents is essential
• Experience in partner and channel marketing with an merchant acquiring, payments processing, or financial services company a plus
• Strong strategic thinker, with an ability to develop data-driven product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and analytical skills
• Skilled at leading cross functional groups and matrix organizations
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coach/mentor junior staff
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, data and analysis oriented environment with lots of change
• Occasional travel required (no more than 10%)
