Position Description
Project Engineer or Sr. Project Engineer position will interface with suppliers and customers for the development and deployment of commercial vehicle hybrid propulsion systems. Position requires experience with hybrid or electric vehicle battery-system engineering or program management. Experience with specification, development and/or testing of vehicular nickel or lithium battery systems is preferred. Candidates must have BSME at a minimum.
1. Specify, develop and validate energy storage device and related electrical interface components.
2. Conduct system integration with electrical, mechanical, and control systems engineering teams.
3. Analyze Reliability and Durability problems and initiate corrective actions.
4. Perform root cause failure analysis on electrical, mechanical, chemical, and electro-chemical systems.
5. Prepare and release engineering technical documents.
6. Provide product technical support to suppliers, customers and other Allison departments.
7. Identify and develop opportunities for product improvements and cost reduction.
8. Prepare and present product budgets, schedules and technical status reports.
Position Requirements
Required:
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
Preferred:
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with additional experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems
Skills Required:
1. Proficient in written and spoken English required.
2. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project required.
3. Proficient in the integration or application of electro-chemical battery systems required.
4. Experienced in the design and development of applications with >300VDC required.
6. Proficient in the use of electrical and mechanical design and analysis tools required.
Skills Preferred:
1. Experience with heavy-duty vehicle applications preferred.
2. Experience with Unigraphics or ProE preferred.
3. Experience with heat, stress and vibration modeling tools preferred.
4. Proficient in technical project leadership preferred.
