SR. PRODUCT DEVELOPER - PROVO, UT

PERMANENT POSITION - Engineering Department

ANNUAL SALARY: $90-$115k

JOB DESCRIPTION:

§         Performs product design, bug verification, release testing, and beta support projects which may require research and analysis.

§         May assist in performing on-site client work.

§         Operates under minimal supervision.

§         Reports to the Product Development Manager.

§         Typically requires six to nine years of technical experience in software design and product support.

§         Performs complex product design activities which may require extensive research and analysis:

§         Performs design, implementation and maintenance of complex, multiple product modules/sub-systems.

§         Participates in product design meetings.

§         Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products:

§         Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions to the problems.

§         Conducts unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits.

§         May assist in performing on-site client work on complex applications.

§         In absence of product architects, may serve as a product architect:

§         Performs design and implementation in order to meet project objectives.

§         Creates and maintains documentation of development work.

§         Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.

§         Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.
 

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Advanced technical knowledge in software database development methodologies, design and implementation.

• Expert analytical and design skills at multi-product/multi-environment level.

• In-depth experience in research and analysis, project planning and implementation.

• Excellent understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.

• Track record of working on complex projects under aggressive deadlines.

• Strong problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills desired.

 SQL Server Development Skills

§         5+ years of experience in Logical and Physical data modeling.

§         5+ years experience in development of MS SQL Server Stored Procedures and other T-SQL code.

§         Proven skills in database performance tuning, as well as a working knowledge of database administration.

§         In-depth experience with XML data types, XML parsing and SQL 2005 XML functions.

§         Experience in writing XQuery and XPath within T-SQL.

§         In-depth understanding of normalization concepts and indexing approaches.

§         Previous experience with ERWin preferred.

Required Education

§         Bachelor's degree in Business, Software Engineering or Computer Science

§         Advanced degree desirable - candidates with a Master's degree are encouraged to apply.

 Required Experience

§         At least 5 years experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005.
