About the Opportunity
The position is responsible for the technical directing and coordination of Electrical and I&C activities primarily, but not exclusively, related to Outage execution as a member of the Outage Team. Included is the technical analysis, planning, budgeting and scheduling of repairs and upgrades on electrical and electronic equipment. The successful candidate will be the focal point for outage communication for his/her area of outage responsibility with issues, project status, critical path and budget impacts under control. Will be responsible for executing all outage activities in his/her area, for scheduled and forced outages, along with the prioritization of projects on the basis of economic and reliability analysis. Will be responsible for staying current in technological proceedings of the industry, including current maintenance practices. Responsibilities include health assessment, preventive and long term maintenance of single and three phase machines, both synchronous and induction, low and medium voltage breakers, precipitator maintenance and controls, transformers from small lighting to main GSU installations, and technical instruction of craft personnel in technical considerations of equipment. This will be accomplished in a cooperative effort with Corporate Engineering, OEMs and third party vendors, as the Plant lead. Results will be measured by the quality and timely work execution during outages, equipment reliability following repairs, and the Plant EFOR.
A willingness to work extended hours during outage situations is required.

At the Engineer level, will conduct research, analyze data and develop alternatives and recommendations. At the Advanced Engineer and Advanced Generation Specialists levels, will improve work processes, develop and recommend solutions, anticipate needs and accepts ownership. At the Sr. Generation Specialist level, will develop programs and policies, integrate broad strategic concepts and facilitate high level solutions.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology, however for Specialists, consideration will be given for acquired power plant experience.

A demonstrated ability to perform at an Engineer level dealing with operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical and I&C equipment is required.

Must be able to read electrical prints and P&ID's.

Demonstrated understanding and use of NDE techniques, including such tests as megger, bridge, Doble, and other electromagnetic tests.

A familiarity with digital and analog electronic techniques is also required. Multi-discipline problem solving is a necessity.

Must interact with management, craft labor and bargaining unit personnel to complete outage work and projects.
